glittering like an unexpected smile

then dimmed to cold camouflage

is the fortune fools chase,

the precious dust

of seconds gone by,

dropped by the sun’s shining pendulum

then slowly caked on

eager skin

until aged and desperate,

it forms deep crevasses

to catch

hope in measured,

treasured time


every time eyelashes meet
and bubbles pop
or sneezes
the counter-clockwise motion
of the moon
and constant
of our feet,
past the pattern 
of our veins
strains vision
through thin wires,
fires purify
the everyday
through unseen seconds
of light aspiring
with hot, invisible fingers
to sever
and solder

Seconds should tick,

Not flicker down,

Digitally compressing

Until they fly away,

Spinning green

Like little lights

On a UFO.

Life is time,

Time is sound.

Rounded fingernails click

On the tabletop,

Mental metronome

Sensory overload,

Don’t drop

The tempo.



Little slivers of time,

Slide by until their loud ticking sound

Threatens our sanity, happiness, immortality.

But we shouldn’t complain, for to keep us from worrying

And wasting time, they make it quite obvious
