Our future is colored
Wildflower acoustic,
Fragrantly free.

Drifting seeds and sounds
Blend blue with the sky
Until clouds ripple
Like ocean waves
And the surf sparkles
Between constellations.

We’re a pair
Of ocean ears.
The pattern of the tides are
Seared in shadows
Cast by flesh-colored curves
O
f seashell cartilage.
Nerves drift
In seaweed clusters
Beneath our skin’s sparkling surf while
White cotton buoys dance with shark fins,
Swabbing the salt sounds
That swirl between us.

We are not significantly
Genetically
Different than starfish.
Basically besides development,
We’re emphatically
The same.

We swim in wind
And spin
With all five points into the blue.
And nothing’s new
And we’re not old
Under the sun.

When I die
I think I’d like to
Dry out on warm sand,
Then when as hard as bones,
On sea foam
Float away.

Woven within

The white shell

Of your bones

Is a chain of daisies and bright lollipops

And musical lava lamps in full color

Stitched with a tie-dyed

Scented shoelace parade,

So your temperature stays

Halfway between

Birthday cake icing and

Fluffy polka-dot lampshades,

Your smile is chocolate brown suede

And a pocket full of money,

Your laugh,

Full of ocean waves and shade

And sweet honeysuckle vines

With little white flowers.

We are all cold steel magnets,

Stuck together,

Pulled like waves

By the moon.

Opposite poles attract,

React within.

Two sweet syllables

You spoke in passing.

Now I cup my hands to my ear

To feel each breath of sound

Brush against it

Like the waves of the ocean

Roaring in seashells.

Say my name again,

I like how it sounds

Passing through your lips.
