dirt on the welcome mat

Tag Archives: half-full

you can have too much
water,
showers
swallows
sheer expression.
your glass,
hold or hide it,
gathers
this earth glue
between
your hands.
think about it
sometimes
just before
drip-dropping
down to sleep.
then swim in
the overflow,
don’t try to
keep the deep.

This Saccharin competition,
       Wrapped in sunny gold foil
                      And oozing chocolate,
                             sends you searching in circles
                                    Until hunched over,
                                            Hobbling,
                                      On big swollen bunny feet,
                                          You decide your empty basket
                                                                               Is half-full.
