dirt on the welcome mat

Monthly Archives: April 2011

White noise and whispers,

Like salt to blood pressure,

Send thoughts quickly to the heart.

What was and what ifs

Glaze blue eyes over,

Colors replay on the inside.

Just ask,
Everyone has the same two initials
Any given day,
But identical is not characteristic
Of O.K.

After listening to Off Key
I’m sure I met with Odd Karma
As Ordinary Kindness
Held the door for me.

Over Kill and Obnoxious Know-it-all,
Deep in conversation
With the Oblivious Kid,
Passed right by without a wave.

Just think,
No one with the same personality,
But never say
We don’t have the same two letters
To play with
.

Lightning bugs

In Mason jars

And poster board

Butterfly collections,

Death so natural

And pleasing to the eye,

Life all at once

So free and trapped

And unable to fly.

Good night,

Sleep tight,

Have dreams about the brightest light

That’s ever reached

Your pretty heart

Wake with a smile because you might

Just break through

To someone’s thoughts,

Like stars shooting into sight.

Bionic black violin bow,
Weather gavel,
Rain whip,

Chastening floodwaters,
Chasing each drop.

Heavy railroad crossing gate,
Aquatic baton,
Auto eyelash,

Strong and simple
Works until the job’s done.

Metal appendage of a grasshopper,
Water warrior,
Storm dial.

Hardened extension of nature,
Indispensable accessory.

I am old
In a young way,
With wrinkled skin so white
You follow its creamy ups and downs
So closely
That all there is

Is soft and smooth.

I am long gone
But here to stay,
Silent and invisible,
Just hollow enough
For you to hear
The echoes.

I am
Inborn,
Unborn,
Reborn.

I am

Your

First

Wish.

his mistake.
